Genre: Symphonic Metal
Biography

AdytaThe Norwegian symphonic metal band Adyta was founded in 2008 by Joakim Severinsen who had left Mortiferia to pursue his own goals. Adyta is a combination of metal, orchestral music and folk music. The name Adyta is a latin word which refers to something that is not to be entered. The name derives from one of Epica's prologues. Adyta started out as Joakim’s one man band as there was difficulties to find musicians who would fit the bill. He got in contact with Melissa Ferlaak, (Echoterra, ex-Visions of Atlantis)Adyta, which to his surprise agreed to sing on Rose of Melancholy. This became Adyta's debute EP.

2009
The Rose of Melancholy EP was independently released in May 2009 and gained good reviews and critics despite the fact it was a low budget production. Joakim started working on Rose of Melancholy's follower which goes by the name Katarsis. Martin Aasen, a good friend and previous bandmate of Joakim became the bands new basist.

2010
After a long period of silenceAdyta, winter had brought the writing process closer to an end once again. In May the drumstracks for Katarsis were tightly beaten down by Joachim Strøm Ekelund (Aspera). Joakim asked some of his favorite musicians for guest-appearances in his songs. The upcoming Katarsis EP features guests such as Oliver Palotai (Kamelot, Sons of Seasons) and Mark Jansen (Epica), amongst others. Katarsis will be partly mixed by leading melodic death metal producer Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman (Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dark Tranquility) in Västra Frölunda, Göteborg, Sweden. In what direction Adyta will head musically remains to be seen. Katarsis will be available in 2011.
